Irish Stout & Treacle Bread

I’ve been working on developing my version of this recipe for long time now. For me, one way to know that you’re in for a really good meal at a restaurant is by the quality of the bread that they bring you at the start. Being brought a good version of homemade stout and treacle brown soda bread then is always cause to rejoice. I trialled different measurements and ingredients for my version and landed on this. It’s loaded with treacle (use molasses if you’re in the US) and must be served slathered with a thick slab of Irish butter. I like a strong stout to really add some notes of subtle bitterness and caramel.
